Sugar Plums & Wonderland

J: Ideas, ideas... Love the Christmas tree on the wall, it makes me think of 'Winnie the Pooh & Christmas, Too.' Such a good one, Eliot would love it. Pooh doesn't have a Christmas tree so he paints one on his wall and nails paper ornaments on to it. Maybe you could do that for Eliot with a sheet of plywood or even an old tablecloth or curtain and some chalkboard paint?

One of my favorite parts of Christmas as a kid was the advent calendar my mom made. She made a big felt 25-day Christmas tree calendar and every day had a little pocket with velcro ornaments to put on the tree. Each morning we woke up to a little gift from the 'Christmas Angel'; just little things like chocolates or books or a 'ticket' to go on some outing.. like a day at the park or going to get our tree. It was always the best, popping out of bed every morning and running to see what little treasure was waiting there. Sometimes she'd make it a scavenger hunt with little drawings for clues and we'd tear through the house searching for our small surprise. It seemed to hardly matter what the gifts were, it was just the excitement and magic of it all as a kid. I was searching around for an image to show and found that Pottery Barn has a pretty cute version, it would be so easy to make your own version though with the kids.

Here are some other sugar plums visions for you to be inspired by. Have fun making a winter wonderland with those beautiful kiddos. Eliot must be so much fun this year. Wish we could be there!
love, -k.
